Jennifer Rumney

Position: Honours student (completed 2004)

Education:

  • 2003 Bachelor of Science, Majors in Marine Biology and Zoology, University of Queensland.

Research Interests: Coral reef ecology, cleaning behaviour and parasitology

Research Project: Jenna completed her Science Degree and honours at the University of Queensland. She was supervised by Dr Lexa Grutter and Dr Craig Franklin.

  • Honours Project: The role of mucus cocoons produced by coral reef fish.
Jenna explored the cues and related cost and benefits associated with cocoon
formation in fishes. Specifically her research was to identify whether photoperiod or
parasite abundance are cues which control the production of cocoons,
calculate the energetic cost of producing cocoons and establish whether or
not mucus cocoons reduce infections by parasites.
